My good friend Linda Stormes just posted a piece entitled “Because of the Unexpected” on her site. It’s a beautiful piece that she wrote on the occasion of her birthday.
She notes that the hole in her heart, which she’s had from birth, is a metaphor for “embracing change and practicing openness.” Read the piece to understand.
Linda has become, for me, an example of someone who is willing to dive into the crashing waves of uncertainty with courage and grace. It is not my place to tell any of her story. You can glimpse some of that in other posts on her site.
What I can say is that Linda does not flinch at the cold. She does not hide her fear. She is a person who changes and grows “in spite of and because of the unexpected.”
